Spider-Man: Far From Home Adds A Curb Your Enthusiasm Star

In the past few weeks, Spider-Man: Far From Home casting has begun to trickle in, with the big highlight so far being the addition of Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio. Now, however, we have what is arguably equally exciting news, as reports say that Curb Your Enthusiasm star J.B. Smoove has joined the superhero blockbuster's ensemble.

Spider-Man: Homecoming was rich with comedic actors in key supporting roles, including Hannibal Burress and Martin Starr, and Deadline's latest story about the sequel suggests the new movie may have a similar energy. There are no specific details about the character he will be playing in Spider-Man: Far From Home, but it seems that it is an important one, as the trade report calls it "a lead in the ensemble."

Not much has been officially released about Spider-Man: Far From Home just yet, with even the title being a fairly recent revelation. Tom Holland will (somehow) reprise the role of Peter Parker a.k.a. Spider-Man, and it's expected that the sequel will bring back a few of the key supporting characters from the first movie - including Marisa Tomei as May Parker, Michael Keaton as Adrian Toomes a.k.a. Vulture, and Zendaya as Michelle a.k.a. MJ. Jon Watts is is back in the director's chair after taking the helm on Spider-Man: Homecoming, and it's expected that the film will feature the eponymous hero on an adventure that takes him far away from New York (the most obvious read of the feature's title). It's been said the future blockbuster will have Peter taking a summer vacation in Europe, though things will get a bit hairy when Jake Gyllenhaal's Quentin Beck a.k.a. Mysterio arrives to spoil the fun.

Without more information about the movie's plot it's hard to speculate who J.B. Smoove will be playing in Spider-Man: Far From Home, but even without that information we already know he's an excellent addition. He has been making audiences howl with laughter for years not only playing Leon Black on the HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm, but also on the big screen in movies like Barbershop: The Next Cut and Pootie Tang. You can currently see him in theaters as part of the cast of the ensemble comedy Uncle Drew, and the plan is to shoot his part in Marvel Studios' 23rd feature before starting production on the tenth season of Curb.

Funny enough, J.B. Smoove has actually acted alongside Tom Holland as Peter Parker before - but you're not going crazy, because he's not in either Captain America: Civil War or Spider-Man: Homecoming. Instead, I'm referring to an Audi commercial that Smoove and Holland filmed together, with the former playing the hero's driving instructor:

Spider-Man: Far From Home hasn't started production yet, but cameras are expected to start rolling in the next few weeks. How bad at secret-keeping do you have to be not to get a complete script to the film youre shooting? Apparently, the answer is Tom Holland, as the Avengers: Endgame actor was never given an entire copy of the script to this months mega-blockbuster event. While that may sound like an exercise in overkill, lets recap some of the big spoilers that Holland dropped to get this level of notoriety.

In the most notable instances of spoiling the MCU for the masses, weve seen Tom Holland tell an audience about to watch Avengers: Infinity War that he was alive, in a joking reference to the fact that Spider-Man literally bit the dust in that very film. Not to mention, there was that time that he alluded to the potential Quantum Realm fix in Avengers: Endgame long before any of those cool new space suits came into play. And if you needed any other basis for just how many secrets could have slipped out in addition to those that Holland already put into the world, lets not forget that theres a montage of Benedict Cumberbatch being a pretty good goal-keeper when paired with Spider-Man: Far From Homes rather talkative star.

With all of those secrets scattered like Avenger dust to the wind, its apparently came to Joe and Anthony Russo having to withhold the whole script to Avengers: Endgame. And we only know this because in a recent interview, Joe himself admitted it as follows:

Yeah, Tom Holland does not get the script. Tom Holland gets his lines and thats it. He doesnt even know who hes acting opposite of. Well just, we use like very vague terms to describe to him what is happening in the scene, because he has a very difficult time keeping his mouth shut.

The fact that we have a whole list of times Tom Holland spoiled the MCU for fans says something about his eager, but kind-hearted tongue when it comes to the adventures of The Avengers. So this information straight from ComicBook.com sounds pretty accurate. Which has us wondering, did Mark Ruffalo get a copy of the script for Avengers: Endgame?

If Tom Holland isnt trusted with an entire script, than surely Ruffalo's done enough to get himself exiled into spoiler corner. Between his Livestream incident during the Thor: Ragnarok premiere, and his own gaffes involving Avengers: Endgame, its gotten so bad that even Don Cheadle has brought attention to it. And by bring attention to, we mean may or may not be joking about not wanting to do press with him. How does that effect lunch breaks on the set?

With Avengers: Endgame only a mere couple of weeks away, it wont be long before Tom Holland is let off the hook for the time being. Its a pretty big event, and since he hasnt had to memorize an entire scripts worth of information, he probably cant tell us about his big team up with The Hulk for the third act save. That is, if thats what happens in this next Avengers film, as were just kidding, and do not want Mr. Holland to take our word as gospel truth in any way, shape, or form.

Seth Rogen is pretty busy in 2019. Hes set to star in this weekends Long Shot opposite Charlize Theron and hes set to voice Pumbaa in The Lion King. Plus hes producing a slew of projects like the aforementioned Long Shot and Good Boys. Still, theres one thing he consistently finds time for and its weed. Notably, he even likes to work while high.

During a recent appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the late night host point blank asked him whether or not he liked to work stoned, to which Rogen confirmed theres 100% chance hes high when the audience is watching him in movies, elaborating,

Yeah, I smoke weed all day, every day of my life. For the last twenty years, exclusively [Ive worked high]. I do actually enjoy weed in my personal life and on film.

Stephen Colbert related a story about how one time he tried to do improv high, which is like the equivalent of telling a regular marathon runner you ran a mile once. Its pretty adorable.

Meanwhile, Rogen also related a story on The Late Show about how he would be filming Long Shot and watching Charlize Theron, only to realize shes a way better actor than he is. The story goes into detail about filming the scene, and it certainly sounds like he was in his head a lot while filming Long Shot.
