Recently, a group of people announced an intention to remake Star Wars: The Last Jedi. It seems the group is getting some "help" as a poster has now been designed based on what one assumes the remake wants to see fixed. The poster is so hilariously over the top that even The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson had to show his appreciation. Check out the poster below.
Front and center on the new poster, created by artist Fernando Reza, is, of course, Luke Skywalker, looking like a grindhouse movie's definition of "badass." He's got the greatest abs ever put to film and rippling arms that are holding a lightsaber in one hand and in the other he's got a...revolver...for some reason. Still looks awesome, right? Kylo Ren also has incredible abs, and new armor that makes him look like Super Shredder. We also see a shot of Rey in a kitchen cooking porgs. Subtle, this poster is not.
We also see the Millennium Falcon fighting Boba Fett's Slave I because everybody loves Boba Fett, and a new Death Star, which is literally just three Death Stars tied together.
My favorite bit has to be Supreme Leader Snoke, who is standing in front of a projector where he appears to be giving a presentation. One assumes that in this scene Snoke is explaining, in excruciating detail, exactly where he came from, how he started the First Order, and what his ultimate plan is. Of the many things that upset people about The Last Jedi, the lack of explanation for Snoke was certainly among them.
Needless to say, people have opinions about this poster, and the idea of people trying to remake The Last Jedi at all. Rian Johnson hasn't been silent on the topic, and his wordless response to this poster pretty much says it all.
The campaign to remake Star Wars: The Last Jedi is still promoting itself. It claims to have millions of dollars pledged for the remake. It's going to need a lot more than it cost to make The Last Jedi, if only because they'll need to purchase the right to make the movie in the first place. For what it's worth, the campaign has also seen the poster, and it is not impressed.
We certainly haven't seen the end of this. Rian Johnson will probably be keeping tabs on the attempt to remake his movie. He seems to be enjoying the idea.
