Deadpool 2s Honest Trailer Brings Back Ryan Reynolds Himself

In a movie market saturated with superhero movies, Deadpool stands out from the pack for several reasons, chief among them his habit of breaking the fourth wall. In the midst of his cinematic adventures, Wade Wilson pokes fun not just at what he's going through, but other areas of pop culture. But Ryan Reynolds' iteration of the Merc with the Mouth doesn't just keep his wisecracking limited to the big screen. Back in 2016, when Deadpool found itself the subject of an Honest Trailer, Reynolds reprised Wade to poke fun at the movie, and now he's back for the Deadpool 2 Honest Trailer. Only this time, he'd rather spend his energy on a different target, as you'll see below.

The Deadpool 2 Honest Trailer starts off normally, with the narrator commenting on how the sequel was surprisingly good, if not better than Deadpool, especially given that it arrived just three weeks after "a funeral," a.k.a. Avengers: Infinity War. But then Ryan... sorry, Wade Wilson pops to predict what he's going to say next about Deadpool 2 and chew him out for not doing an Honest Trailer about Coco, which is what commenters have been asking for. Then, deciding to take matters into his own hands, Wade hijacks the Deadpool 2 Honest Trailer and use it to critique what Honest Trailers does on a weekly basis. For instance, when Wade notes the "logic gap" that if Cable changed the future, he wouldn't need to travel back in time in the first place, prompting the narrator to agree, Wade retorts that this is a movie about a "cyborg cartoon with huge pouches and tiny feet." It's not worth looking at this story like it's set in the real world.

This latest fourth wall break from Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool came at the expense of Honest Trailers, but it proves yet again why Deadpool is so unique among the other characters leading their own superhero movies. He gets to tease and tear into all the tropes, whether they're superhero-related or not, and if that requires him barging into an Honest Trailer unannounced, then so be it. That being said, the Deadpool 2 Honest Trailer ended with Wade departing in disgust after learning that Honest Trailers has been nominated for three Emmys, but the narrator suspects that he'll be back for the Detective Pikachu Honest Trailer. Fingers crossed that actually ends up happening. In fact, let's just have Deadpool crash all future Honest Trailers that are about Ryan Reynolds movies.

Deadpool 2 is now available on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD. The Merc with the Mouth, as well as Cable and Domino, are expected to return for X-Force, which is being written and directed by Drew Goddard, and Deadpool 3 is in development as well. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Just Passed A Box Office Milestone

Dinosaurs may be extinct, but their power to draw crowds is stronger than ever. It's been a little over a month since Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom made a big entrance to theaters in its first weekend, but it's continued to profit, recently crossing the $400 million mark at the domestic box office. When combined with 2015's Jurassic World, the new franchise has now made more than $1 billion domestically and $2.9 billion worldwide, becoming Universal's most profitable franchise, beating out The Fast & Furious. With the massive success of the sequel, it's clear that the action-packed films are offering much more than 90s nostalgia for the Jurassic Park films, and drawing in new captive audiences.

Fallen Kingdom gave fans an exciting sequel just three years after the franchise comeback in 2015. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard reprised their roles, this time with some surprising dark and emotional moments not found in its predecessor. Fans were also excited to see Jeff Goldblum join the fun again as the lovable Dr. Ian Malcolm, though he ultimately didn't have much screen time. The Jurassic World sequel's reigning spot holds just under Disney's big-budget films Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity Wars and Incredibles 2 respectively, making it the most successful movie to break the box office and become a billion dollar movie that isn't from the House of Mouse. According to Box Office Mojo, all of the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World movies have made a collective total of $4.8 billion globally.

Before the new franchise recently took hold, the Jurassic Park films always performed well at the box office, so it's not a big surprise that its inherited this streak with the Jurassic World movies. When Jurassic Park made its debut in 1993, it was by far the highest grossing movie of the year. When Jurassic World made a comeback, it was only eclipsed by the release of another returning franchise, Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Fallen Kingdom's success has earned it a #32 spot in the all-time domestic top fifty, surpassing Frozen and just two spots under the one that started it all, Jurassic Park. It competed well over Chris Pratt's other giant sequel of last year, Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2, and the Parks and Rec alum is having a very good year.

While Universal has released many other sequels this year, no other has come close to the success of Fallen Kingdom. Fifty Shades Freed was the only other 2018 Universal film to break $100 million, with Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again now closely behind. However, the end of 2018 does look for Universal with Ryan Gosling & Damien Chazelle's First Man, the new Halloween and Dr. Suess's The Grinch making their way to theaters soon. Besides Disney's solid hold at the top of 2018, few upcoming big films have the ability to surpass Fallen Kingdom.

Emily Blunt is quite busy these days. She's currently out and about promoting the new horror movie A Quiet Place, and she has Mary Poppins Returns coming up later this year. However, what has seemed to be most on people's minds lately is whether or not Emily Blunt would be interested in a sequel to The Devil Wears Prada, the 2006 movie that really helped to kickstart her career. The actress recently explained on The Jess Cagle Interview that she wouldn't be out on a sequel if everyone else was in; however, there's a reason she doesn't really want The Devil Wears Prada 2 to happen. She said:

If everyone did it I would be up for it. I don't know if there's going to be a second film. I almost hope it doesn't because I think sometimes when you sequel everything [it] kind of dilutes how special the original is.

The Devil Wears Prada came out during a time period when rom-coms were still being made on the regular. It was also made during a time when most movies that came out were not setting up a sequel. Thanks to some wonderful performances by Emily Blunt, Anne Hathaway and the iconic Meryl Streep (not to mention Stanley Tucci), The Devil Wears Prada has lived on in the collective pop culture memory. So much so that Emily Blunt is still getting asked about the gig and whether she would do another, and she told The Jess Cagle Interview that she feels the original was "special" and stands on its own. She doesn't seem to want to really try to recreate the experience in a second movie in order to make more money off of a sequel.

On the bright side, if you've been gung ho about a sequel to The Devil Wears Prada ever since it came out over a decade ago, Emily Blunt doesn't totally say "no" here. She spoke out on Late Night with Seth Meyers a few days ago, and the actress said she "would love it" about making a sequel, also mentioning that her co-star Stanley Tucci is also now her brother-in-law. Now, she seems to have flip-flopped a little bit; however, she still says she would do a second movie if everyone else were down. So, all hope is not lost.

Although there a bunch of sequels, remakes and reboots in the works right now at the various movie studios, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is not one that is currently in development. As we've noted previously, Emily Blunt is quite busy this year, and if she wasn't so busy, the sequel she would probably be doing would be Edge of Tomorrow 2. In addition, Anne Hathaway has movies like Ocean's 8 and The Hustle coming. Meryl Streep also has Mary Poppins Returns and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again coming out. Stanley Tucci has a slew of movies, including Show Dogs and Patient Zero, coming out. Still, unlike a lot of these other sequels, The Devil Wears Prada actually has a sequel already out there called Revenge Wears Prada. So there is source material to back this sort of movie. Plus, the thought of a second movie poster with a devilish stiletto front and center is tantalizing, although these days those heels are likely to be a bit chunkier...

One of the biggest mysteries surrounding Captain Marvel, alongside Jude Laws role, has been the question of who four-time Academy Award nominee Annette Bening is playing in the film. She has been an enigmatic figure in the trailers, clearly playing an important role, but not definitively one character or another. Now that the film has screened, the secrecy has loosened just a bit and Annette Bening can spill some of the beans. She said:

I play The Supreme Intelligence, who is a God-like entity. The leader of the Kree people, the artificial intelligence which consists of the greatest intellects of the Kree people for the last million years.

Like Daenerys Stormborn of the House Targaryen rattling off her many titles to intimidating effect, Annette Benings announcement of who her Captain Marvel character is on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert was an impressive summary and quite a mouthful. Her description is meant to inspire awe and grandeur, and it is right to do so because Annette Bening is playing the Kree Supreme Intelligence.

It was rumored that Annette Bening might be playing Carol Danvers mother in the film, but one of the trailers showed that she was in fact a Kree. She appeared to be a high-ranking military officer, but we now know, as many have suspected, that Annette Bening is playing the Kree Supreme Intelligence, though one that looks quite different than its comic book counterpart.

In the comics, the Kree Supreme Intelligence is all of those things that Annette Bening said: a God-like being, the leader of the Kree and an A.I. made up of the greatest minds of the Kree race. However, in the comics it is basically just a giant floating green head. See below:

So the Supreme Intelligence is getting a new look for this film and a much more pleasant and friendly face. In the comics, the Kree Supreme Intelligence is a cold entity, concerned only with the survival and advancement of the Kree race. It is the one who assembles and commands the Starforce during the Kree-Shiar War, even acting as a member itself through the android Supremor.

I suspect that the Kree-Skrull War may be standing in for the Shiar conflict in Captain Marvel, which would perhaps portend an important role for Annette Benings Supreme Intelligence.

Its definitely a cool role for Annette Bening to play. She is an acclaimed actress who can bring the necessary gravitas to a character that is both wise and calculating. Although Annette Bening admits, she needed a little help understanding her story in the film.
